Tennis Sydney Enters Tennis NSW Badge Competition with Four Teams in 2026
Tennis Sydney is proud to announce a major milestone for the club, with four teams officially entered the 2026 Tennis NSW Badge Competition.
While many Tennis Sydney members have competed in Badge individually in previous years, this marks the first time the club has formally entered teams, representing a significant step forward in both our competitive pathway and presence within the broader tennis community.
A Big Step Forward for the Club
Entering four teams is more than just participation; it reflects the continued growth, ambition and confidence of Tennis Sydney as a club.
This initiative supports:
- Greater visibility across the Sydney tennis landscape
- Showcasing an inclusive and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ players
- Creating more structured and competitive opportunities for members
- Strengthening club identity and pride, both on and off the court
Most importantly, it creates a clearer pathway for members to engage in regular, meaningful match play within a team environment.As Tennis Sydney President Chris Taylor noted, “Entering four teams in Badge is an exciting milestone for Tennis Sydney. It’s about creating more opportunities for our members to play competitive tennis, while representing our club and community across Sydney. It’s a chance to showcase on a broad stage who we are: an inclusive, welcoming and competitive club”.
What is Badge?
The Tennis NSW Badge Competition is one of New South Wales’ most established interclub competitions, featuring a weekly team-based format where clubs compete across Sydney.
It offers a unique blend of competitive match play, team camaraderie, club pride and community connection.
The Badge Experience
The 2026 season will see Tennis Sydney teams travelling across Bayside, Inner West, Northern Beaches, Lower North Shore and Eastern Suburbs, competing in a fortnightly home-and-away format.
Matches are about more than just tennis:
- Home clubs provide post-match catering
- Players are encouraged to stay and socialise with other clubs
- The competition builds both rivalry and community spirit
Home fixtures will be held at Sydney Boys High School, with matches typically running from 11:30am to 5:30pm.
Preparation and Club Pride
In the lead-up to Round 1, our teams have been putting in the work — from internal hit-ups to practice matches against other clubs — with strong energy and commitment across all squads.
Players will represent Tennis Sydney with strong communication and reliability, respect for opponents, officials and host clubs, and pride in presentation and conduct.
We’re also excited to unveil a Tennis Sydney team uniform, helping bring a strong and consistent club presence and identity across the competition.
And for those playing at Royal Sydney Golf Club — expect a strict all-white dress code, our very own Wimbledon moment.
