The Spring Singles Shuffle is a new format we are offering to allow players to compete in competitive singles matches each week. There will be 8 groups, each with 7 people, who will play in a round robin format.
These matches will occur over a 2 week period (one cycle) with approximately 3 matches per week. The competition will be split into 3 main cycles, each consisting of 2 weeks of play, followed by a semi final cycle over 2 weeks, then a finals week.
During each cycle, based on your results against other players within the group, the final results will determine which players move up a group, stay in the same group, or move down a group for the next cycle.
Examples of how the format works can be found in the Spring Singles Shuffle Comp 2019 Rules
Start Date:Thursday 3rd October
Duration: 9 Weeks (not including washouts)
Time: 7:30pm-10:30pm Thursday nights
Location: Parklands Tennis Centre, Moore Park Tennis Courts, Sydney Boys High School Tennis Courts (Location changes based on division)
Total number of participants: 56
The costs cover court hire and balls and you get 24 singles matches (27 matches for finalists).
Please note: There will be no byes!
For those who know they will be absent for a large portion of the competition, we are opening this competition up to be entered into as pairs. So if you can’t attend 3+ weeks of the comp but still wish to enter, your nominated partner can play for you. If you would like to take up this option, please include the name of your partner when you enter. Almost all players will enter as individuals. We will have a list of substitutes to be called upon if you are absent on occasion.
The competition is due to run from Thursday October 3rd to Thursday November 28th 2019.
Washout weeks are reserved on 5th December and 12th December. In the case of a washout, all matches will be pushed back to the next week, as opposed to ‘skipping’ a round.
Always assume play is on. If you don’t hear anything, then the competition will still be on. You will be notified in instances where there is a washout.
If there are more than two washouts during the competition, the Committee reserves the right to make a judgement call on the best way to proceed with play.
All competitors must be current members of Tennis Sydney. Membership costs $50 a year and entitles you to the insurance cover which is required at all the tennis centres that we play at as well as discounts for Sunday Social, newsletters, discounts from our sponsors and the ability to enter all Tennis Sydney competitions and tournaments for the calendar year.
Registration for this event has sold out or ended.
