Spring Tournament 2014 - draw & details

Main Venue Cintra Park Tennis Centre, Concord, NSW (see map below) 

All matches will be taking place at Cintra Park Concord. We are not using a secondary venue on Friday night. Please familiarise yourself with the location of the venue and transport options. It is your responsibility to arrive at the courts 15 minutes before your scheduled match. 

Transport to Cintra Park

The closest train station is Burwood, about 15 minutes walk to the courts heading north along Burwood Rd, across Parramatta Rd and continuing on until you reach Gipps St, Concord. Turn right and the courts are about 5 minutes along on your left.There are express trains (12 mins) departing from Central Platform 18 – North Shore and Western Line – to Burwood. Check http://www.cityrail.info/ for timetables.


There is a large car park available at the Cintra Park courts, enter from Gipps Street. A word of CAUTION ! The entry and exit to the car park is on a bend in Gipps St, so please take extra care when arriving at and departing the courts. Request to local players who are driving. If you have space in your car please offer a lift to some of our many visitors from inter-state and overseas even if it is only to the nearest train station.

No smoking. No dogs allowed.

The Western Suburbs Tennis Association / Cintra Park Tennis Centre complies with the City of Canada Bay Council’s no smoking policy and the State Government’s Smoke-free Sports Grounds policy. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the grounds. The Association also complies with an order from the City of Canada Bay Council that dogs are not permitted anywhere on the grounds of the Cintra Park Tennis Centre. Dogs are welcome in the adjoining park. Your co-operation with both requests above is appreciated.

Massage service available – Saturday 27 September – midday – 4.00pm

Sandie Bennett is a qualified sports and remedial massage therapist with 10 years experience, she is also a qualified personal trainer and sports trainer with 17 years experience. Sandie has previous experience as a sports therapist at events such as; the Australian Ironman event, Australian Indoor Cricket, NSW Indoor Sports and is also the trainer for Australia’s #1 female wheelchair tennis player, Janel Manns.

Complimentray tea and coffee will be available on Saturday and Sunday.

The pro-shop at Cintra sells a range of refreshments and snacks and will be open all weekend.The nearest shops are about a 10 minute walk away on either Parramatta Road(limited) or 15 minutes walk to Burwood Road toward the station.  


UPDATED – Player’s Party – Saturday 27 September from 1.00pm

We will be celebrating the AFL Grand Final on the big screen at the Cintra Club House on Saturday 27th. There will be a staggered  lunch of chicken and salads available from 1.30pm for all players and the footy kicks off at 2.40pm. It’s BYO if you feel like a beer or wine so bring your esky along. It’s state vs state at the MCG and VicTennis vs Tennis Sydney on the courts. Let the games begin.

(We will also be showing the NRL, Easts V Souths on Friday night.)


Ann-Marie, photographer for the Star Observer, will be visiting the tournament on Saturday afternoon. Please let Ann-Marie know if you do not wish to be photographed.




  • This tournament will have an order of play on each court. You will know your court number in advance. Please report to the tournament desk and collect balls at least 15 minutes prior to each match.Then make your way to your court. 
  • All events are best of 3 set knock-out draws except Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and D Grade Doubles which will be played as round-robins.
  • All matches up to the finals will be the best of 3 sets, with the 3rd set being a super tie break (first to 10 with a 2 point advantage). The first two sets are normal first-to-6 sets with a tiebreak at 6-6. All final matches (time permitting) will be the best of 3 tiebreak sets.
  • Round-robin events will be played as one (1) set, first to six (6) with a two (2) game advantage with a tie break played at 5-5.
  • Warm up times are strictly limited to 5 minutes.
  • The winner must report the match results to the tournament desk immediately after your match. Round-robin match results will be recorded by your group captain. 
  • Between matches a 30-minute break is allowed after a main draw singles match and a 15-minute break after a main draw doubles match.
  • Field officials are present to check balls, warm-up times, rest periods and to be of general assistance.

Late arrival
Late arrivals will incur a penalty in accordance with the GLTA rules starting from the moment the match has been announced (and a court is available). Therefore it is your responsibility to arrange transportation, get directions if necessary and leave yourself sufficient time to get to the venue.

  • Up to 5 minutes: loss of toss and 1 game
  • 5 to 10 minutes: loss of toss and 2 games
  • 10 to 15 minutes: loss of toss and 3 games
  • More than 15 minutes: default
