Mardi Gras

The Mardi Gras Championships is Tennis Sydney’s largest and most prestigious tennis event and part of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival.  For almost two decades this event has been providing gay, lesbian and transgender tennis players (and family and friends) a competitive, social and fun tournament.

The tournament is open to anyone who wishes to particpate and comprises graded singles and doubles events (grades include Open, A, B, C, D, Masters and Veteran).

Tournament formats include:

  • knockout competition for each graded singles event; and
  • round robin competition for each graded doubles event,

although these formats may change depending on the number of entries received.  For knockout events, a consolation competition may be scheduled for first match losers.

Trophies are awarded to the winners and runners-up in each grade and a winner medal for the consolation competition.

There is a registration fee if you are not a member of Tennis Sydney but concessions apply as the tournament aims to be accessable to all players who wish to compete.
